This web site was constructed for the use of providing information concerning the trials of parenthood when it occurs unexpectedly at a young age. My hope is that after reading its content you may become aware of the different types of situations that commonly exist in the realm of single parenthood. Through case histories you will read at least three different scenarios, one of which you may find relatable. You will have the opportunity to tell your own personal story if you wish, and submit it to the site by clicking on the designated link below. With your permission, I will feature various stories in my forthcoming book and on this web site.

As your host and reseacher for the site, allow me to introduce myself and tell you about my career and credentials. My name is Humberto L. Jimenez. I was in the field of social work from 1976 until 2006 when I retired and now do free-lance projects. I worked with young mothers and fathers at Family Resources in Davenport, IA for much of my career as well as doing independant projects that dealt with teens and their particular social issues. I recently decided that my years in the field and resulting knowledge could benefit others by way of a volume of case histories and my insight based on my professional experiences. Many stories have been submitted thus far, and I wish to use this site as a means of gathering more by listening to YOUR special story and providing a "sounding board" for young parents. I hope to release my book by the summer of 2008. |
